Towns Like Ours Don't Disappear on Purpose

Towns like ours get changed one reasonable decision at a time, by people who never asked what was being lost. Our job at We Love Harbor Springs is to stay ahead of that: read the documents early, ask the questions in time, and make sure the town decides with its eyes open.

That’s what next Tuesday is for. Join us Tuesday, August 18th, 5–7PM at the Colonial Inn: Carol Costello’s appetizers, a cash bar, favorite friends, and a short, honest look at 10 Things We Love, Protect, and Are Building Together.

Here’s the night: we gather, we eat, we catch up. At 5:45, a few short remarks on what’s coming at Harbor Springs in the next year —

  • The development money now circling northern Michigan

  • The aging infrastructure under our feet

  • The debate in Lansing over how much say small towns keep over their own future

Then we open it up for discussion, because two years of this work taught us something worth repeating: when this town gets a moment to actually listen to itself, we agree on far more than anyone expected.

All of this is paid for by individual residents and property owners, no corporate money, and it runs on volunteers. We’ll take two minutes that night to talk about what the work costs and how to help, then get back to the fun part.

Come tell us what you want protected. Bring a neighbor who sees it differently.
