Why it matters
The Harbor 2 lift station in Ford Park and the 3-mile force main are aging 1972 infrastructure. Rough planning-level estimates discussed in open session were about $2M for lift-station can replacement and about $4M for force-main replacement, with Harbor Springs' share at about $2.56M. Then the May 2026 flooding event hit — the sewer authority plant designed for 1.1M gallons/day max inflow handled 3.1M gallons in a single day. The resulting electric bill for all five entities is going to be "enormous." This could accelerate the capital need significantly.
