Issue Brief
What this covers
- Status: open - First raised: 2026-05-13 - Last raised: 2026-06-15 - Recurrence count: 3
Why it matters
Harbor Springs has 100+ kayak racks, hundreds of slips and moorings, but no dedicated storage space for small sailboats such as Sunfish, Lasers, Force 5s, or similar hand-launched boats. The former Z Street dinghy storage area is underused as powered dinghies shifted toward Ford Park and Marina Park. Commissioners continue to frame the concept as a way to support local, small-scale sailing access without trailer traffic or large new infrastructure.
What resolution means
- Resolved when Harbor Commission, Parks & Rec, and any required city authority approve clear rules, fee structure, capacity, boat-type limits, safety conditions, and launch/storage procedures, or formally decline the concept.
