Why it matters

The newly adopted zoning code has discrepancies between the text definitions of building height measurement and the accompanying diagrams. Commissioner Chip Everest flagged that diagrams do not clearly show how height is measured from the property line. Jeff (city planner) confirmed diagrams need correction — they show measurement methodology that doesn't match the text. The text defines height as measured from average grade at the property perimeter, but diagrams may show the old method (face of building). If uncorrected, this creates ambiguity for property owners, builders, and enforcement.
