This Economic Survey was produced in November 2024. The answers are telling, rewarding the attempts to build Harbor Springs into a full time year round town, and answers that are a warning to the City to not mess with the success, over all the decades. Question #6 is a bit confusing.

When asked what businesses are UNDER represented…survey taker #36 said this…

“Nothing is underrepresented. The eclectic mix of businesses always makes it enjoyable to wander downtown. Trying to engineer what businesses might be missing or underrepresented will just turn HS into another bland downtown with the same stuff and franchises found in other US towns”

While another response is: “Underrepresented businesses are: Year round businesses such as affordable- clothing stores, food co-op, arts/entertainment/recreation, general merchandise, housing ( especially for those who have a salary under $100,000 annually), furniture, breakfast and dinner options.”
