Recently, City Manager Victor Sinadinoski released a list of the RRC’s 30 “best practices” on the city website.
This list covers many basic aspects of good governance. However, the purpose of releasing this list is confusing because it doesn’t necessitate Harbor Springs being involved in the RRC program. As stated in Victor’s post, these “best practices” align with many values and goals that predate the city’s engagement with the RRC.
The timing of this post is also questionable. It’s been said that the changes in the city have nothing to do with the RRC, so why was this statement released just four days prior to a meeting to discuss them?
As residents of Harbor Springs, we find this entire thing very confusing. Why release a statement to tell us that we’re involved with the RRC just so we can continue doing things we’ve already been doing?
We believe that this muddies the waters even more and warrants further discussion. We hope to gain clarity on how this relates to the rezoning plan at, and following, the May 6 meeting.
